BERKELEY, Calif. -- No. 3 UCLA (2-2, 2-2 MPSF) exacted revenge on the Golden Bears in the final game of the opening weekend, posting a 10-7 win at No. 5 California (2-2, 2-2 MPSF) on Sunday evening at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

A total of seven different Bruins scored in the win over California. Sophomore Gabe Discipulo had a hat trick to lead the Bruins while UCLA received one goal each from senior Nicolas Saveljic, redshirt junior Evan Rosenfeld, sophomore Tommy Gruwell and freshmen Tanner Pulice and Hayden Nightingale.

In the nightcap win at California, the Bruins got off to a hot start and cruised to the finish. In a game it never trailed, UCLA led 3-2 at the end of the first period. The Golden Bears would tie the game at 3-3 with 6:41 left in the second, but the Bruins answered with five straight goals to build a commanding 8-3 lead, which culminated with a power play goal by junior Jake Cavano (5:32 of the third), who finished with two scores.

Anthony Rethans registered 13 saves for the Golden Bears while Maurizi tallied nine stops against Cal.

The Bruins return to action on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 11:00 a.m. PT when they host No. 4 Pepperdine in UCLA's home opener at Dirks Pool at Spieker Aquatics Center.
