Final Results

Tucson, Ariz. - The University of Utah Men's Golf team completed its first tournament of the year today at the Arizona Intercollegiate, placing 16th after shooting 52-over as a team (904).

The teams' best showing of the tournament came on the last day of play as they shot 9-over (293) on the final 18.

"So it was great to be back competing again," head coach Garrett Clegg said. "It for sure was not the results that we wanted this week, but we will get home, regroup and get ready for our next event. Blake led the way for us and his game looks really close to being good. His putter was cold each round, but hopefully next week that will get going and he will be able to show where his game really is."

Junior Blake Tomlinson led the team through three rounds, shooting 7-over par (220) which helped him tie for 28th among the field. Much like the team, Tomlinson's best day of play was the final round where he shot even par overall (71), recording 14 pars and one eagle.

Not far behind Tomlinson was fellow Junior Tristan Mandur, who tied for 34th after shooting 9-over par (222). Mandur's best day came in the second round when he shot 2-over par (73), claiming 14 holes at par or better, including two birdies.

Senior Mitchell Schow shot 1-under par (70) on the final day of play to help him climb the leader board to tie for 59th. Schow was the only Ute to have a round under par and finished the event 13-over par (226).

Redshirt sophomore Colton Tanner and sophomore Axel Einarsson rounded out the team shooting 25-over (238) and 27-over (240) respectively.

The team will be back in action February 6th-8th playing locally in the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational in St. George, UT.
