BERKELEY – California returns to competition this weekend as it hosts USC on back-to-back days, Jan. 29-30, at Spieker Aquatics Complex. Diving events will be held at Legends Aquatic Center. The two Pac-12 teams will first clash at 2 p.m. PT on Friday, Jan. 29, followed by a second meet at noon PT on Saturday, Jan. 30.
 
Under Pac-12 Conference and local public health protocols, no fans are permitted to attend the meets in Berkeley. Fans are encouraged to follow the action via the Cal men's swimming & diving social media accounts.
 
DUAL MEET STREAK
The Bears have won 12 straight dual meets dating back to Oct. 3, 2018. That streak includes a 6-0 record in 2019-20. Cal is 75-11 in dual meets under Dave Durden (2008-present). Cal went undefeated in dual meets during the 2019-20 season, going 6-0 to extend its win streak in such competition to 12, dating back to Oct. 3, 2018. Four of the dual meet victories came against Pac-12 foes, including Arizona, Arizona State, USC and Stanford.
 
LAST TIME IN THE POOL
Cal competed with Stanford in a non-scoring dual meet at the Avery Aquatic Center on Nov. 22. The Bears swam eight NCAA B-cut qualifying times in the meet, which included both short-course and long-course events. In SCY competition, freshman Destin Lasco and senior transfer Zach Yeadon cracked Cal's top-10 fastest times in the 200 back and 1650 free, respectively. Lasco's 1:39.60 was the fifth-fastest 200 back and Yeadon's 14:54.66 was the eighth-fastest 1650 free in school history. Other B-cuts were posted by Ryan Hoffer (42.68, 100 free; 46:43, 100 fly), Dare Rose (1:35.53, 200 free), Colby Mefford (1:35.90, 200 free), Reece Whitley (52.46, 100 breast) and Trenton Julian (3:43.44, 400 IM).
 
SPIEKER RECORDS FALL IN NOVEMBER
In Cal's first non-scoring meet of the 2020-21 season vs. Stanford on Nov. 14, the Bears posted 17 total NCAA qualifying times and seven Spieker Aquatics Complex records.

IN THE RANKINGS
Cal was ranked third nationally in the most recent CSCAA TYR Top 25 poll (Jan. 21) with 325 points, trailing only Texas (350) and Georgia (327).
