Water Polo's 2021 Schedule Announced

Feb 3, 2021

TEMPE, Ariz.- The Arizona State water polo team has announced its 2021 competition schedule on Wednesday. The 2021 schedule is highlighted with a busy home slate with conference games against San Jose State, Indiana, and University of California, Los Angeles.

After a canceled season due to COVID-19 and uncertainty throughout the offseason, Head Coach Todd Clapper said, "The team is really excited to get out and compete again, since many of them haven't competed since March. We return everyone from last year's squad and add some instant-impact freshmen. In addition, Bente Rogge will rejoin the squad for her final season after helping Holland qualify for the Olympic Games. This should prove to be one of our most talented and deep teams that we have ever had."

The Sun Devils open the season at home against San Diego State for a trio of matches on February 13-14. California Baptist comes to town on February 20 where the Sun Devils will be hosting two matches.

After California Baptist comes to town, an ASU-hosted tournament will take place on February 26-28 where Michigan, University of California San Diego, and University of Southern California come to town for a busy Friday/Saturday/Sunday slate to close out the month. This tournament will be hosted by the Sun Devils at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe.

Stanford comes to town on March 7-8 for a quick two match weekend.

After a bye week, San Jose State will be visiting the Sun Devils in Tempe March 20-21, where the Sun Devils look to have their first conference game of the season against SJSU.

March closes out with Indiana coming to town for a three match weekend on March 27-28, as another conference game is in store for the Sun Devils.

The first road trip of the season for the Sun Devils is the opening weekend of April, as they will travel to California to face University of California, Berkeley on April 3-4.

Upon returning home, ASU hosts UCLA on April 10-11 with a conference match during the doubleheader on the 11.

The Sun Devils head back on the road to University of Southern California  where they will finish out the regular season with two matches on April 17-18.

The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MSPF) Championships are scheduled for April 30-May 2, and is to be hosted by Arizona State in Tempe.

The NCAA Championships will be hosted by UCLA and will take place May 13-15.

Last season, the 12-5 Sun Devils finished at 6th in the Collegiate Water Polo Association polls during a season that was cut short due to COVID-19. In 2021, ASU looks to build off of their strong season with most players returning.
