Emily White Earns Pac-12 Coaches Choice of the Week

Feb 16, 2021

2020-21 Awards and Honors For Sun Devil Athletics | Pac-12 Release

SAN FRANCISCO – Freshman Emily White is this week's Pac-12 Coaches Choice of the Week after tying career highs in three events, giving the Gym Devils a fifth conference weekly award this season.
Arizona State has already tied its program record for Pac-12 weekly awards in a single season. ASU had five in 2018 when Cairo Leonard-Baker won the freshman/newcomer of the week award five times. This is White's first weekly award and the Sun Devils' second coaches choice of the week winner. Jada Mangahas also won the award back on January 26.

At Cal on Sunday, White matched her career highs on all three events she competed. She scored 9.850s on bars and beam and a 9.825 on vault. Her scores helped the Gym Devils to a 196.650, the second-highest team score of the season and the highest road score ASU has had since 2003.

As of right now, the next meet scheduled for the Gym Devils is on February 28 at Washington. The meet at home against Stanford originally scheduled for February 20 has been canceled due to due a lack of adequate training time to prepare to compete safely at the highest level for the Stanford gymnastics program.
