Tubelis Earns Pac-12 Freshman of the Week Accolades

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Pac-12 Conference announced on Monday that UA freshman forward Azuolas Tubelis has been named the conference's Freshman of the Week as voted on by media around the league.
 
In splitting two games in Los Angeles last week, Tubelis averaged 17.0 points and 11.5 rebounds. In the first game of the week, he registered 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots at UCLA. He followed that up with 16 points, 15 rebounds and three assists in a win over league-leading USC.
 
Tubelis is the second Arizona freshman to claim the weekly award this season, joining Bennedict Mathurin (Jan. 4).
 
Through 17 conference games, the Lithuanian is averaging 13.9 points, a team-best 7.5 rebounds while shooting 51.1% from the floor and 34.4% from the 3-point line.
 
The Wildcats are back home this week to play host to Washington State on Thursday (9pm, FS1) and Washington on Saturday (12pm, CBS).
