Bears Set To Battle Utah In Top-10 Clash

BERKELEY – California women's gymnastics travels to Salt Lake City for a nationally televised meet vs. the Utah Utes. The first rotation begins at 6 p.m. PT/7 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Network.
 
The Bears come into Friday's meet ranked ninth in the country after moving to 4-0 with the program's first-ever win at Oregon State. The Bears posted a season-high and the fourth-best mark in program history with a 197.425. They established a rhythm early with five straight 9.90 performances on uneven bars, winning the event with a team score of 49.550, the second-best in school history.
 
Kyana George was spectacular for the Bears as she recorded a 49.650 on the all-around, the third-best in school history. She notched a 9.90+ on all four events and matched career highs on the vault, beam and all-around on her way to winning Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week. George recorded 9.925 on both the vault and the beam, winning both competitions to bring her season total to nine event wins.
 
Nina Schank set a career high on vault with a 9.90 and also won the bars competition with a 9.925. Maya Bordas had her best all-around meet of the year as she took second place, while tying with Schank on the bars a 9.925. Bordas also totaled a 9.90 on the beam competition, a season-high.
 
Andi Li recorded a 9.90+ on the bars for the second straight competition and notched three scores at 9.85 or better, despite competing in the vault for the first time in her collegiate career.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
3 - Andi Li came to Cal as one of the top recruits in the country and the freshman hasn't disappointed, winning three events in her first four meets. Li won the bars with a career-best 9.925 score vs. ASU as she earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, she followed that with a 9.90 vs. OSU.
 
36 - Kyana George has 36 event wins in her career after recording three more wins vs. Oregon State and bringing her 2021 total to nine. She now has 85 top-three finishes in her career and 36 of the team's 96 career first-place finishes.
 
49.550 - Cal recorded an uneven bars score of 49.550 at Oregon State, tied for the second-best score in the country this year and the second-best in program history. All five scoring gymnasts notched a 9.90+.
