Box Score | Oregon 4, New Mexico 3

EUGENE, Ore. – For a second-consecutive outing, the Oregon men's tennis team rallied for a 4-3 victory with Thursday's win over New Mexico at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz. Joshua Charlton clinched the match with a three-set win at No. 1 singles.

Oregon improves to 8-0, and now turns its focus to Pac-12 play which begins Friday at Arizona State.

How it Happened: Oregon jumped out to the 1-0 lead, winning the first point with victories at No. 1 and 3 doubles. In their second match together, Joshua Charlton and Quinn Vandecasteele had a 6-3 win at the top spot. The No. 3 pair of Emmanuel Coste and Jesper Klöv-Nilsson beat their opponents, 6-4, to secure the doubles point.

Klöv-Nilsson, playing up at No. 4 for the first time this season, continued his standout play in a 6-1, 6-3 triumph to improve to 7-0 this season. The UO sophomore has dropped just 23 games in seven matches this season.

New Mexico (2-2) pulled even at 2-all with straight-set victories at No. 5 and 6 singles. The winner of the dual would be determined by the top-three spots in the lineup. The Lobos took the 3-2 lead with a third-consecutive victory, this one at the No. 3 spot in the lineup.

With his match tied at one set apiece, Coste swept his way through the third frame to even the match at 3-3. He posted a 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 score line in victory over Raul Dobai. Coste also pulled the Ducks even at 3-all in team's 4-3 win over Washington (Feb. 21).

The final match on court—No. 1 singles—featured Charlton against the Lobos' Dominic West. With the score tied 2-2 in the third set, Charlton rattled off the final four games to pull away for the victory (6-2, 4-6, 6-2). He is now 6-2 in singles play this season.

Quotable: "New Mexico is a very good team and it was a battle from start to finish. Once again, I think our grit paid off in the end, and Manu and Josh were incredible in the third sets to close it out for us." – head coach Nils Schyllander

Notable: Eighth different singles lineup in eight matches … Coste (6-0), Klov-Nilsson (7-0) remain undefeated in singles play

Up Next: Oregon returns to the Whiteman Tennis Center to open Pac-12 play Friday afternoon against No. 21 Arizona State. First serve of the conference opener is scheduled for 1 p.m. (PT). The road trip also includes a Sunday matchup with No. 20 Arizona in Tucson.
