Agan Shines In 5-0 Husky Win

SAN DIEGO – The #5 Washington Huskies shutout San Diego State 5-0 Saturday in the rubber match of the three-game series. It was Washington's fifth shutout of the season and puts the Huskies' record at 11-2.

Lilly Agan was a part of three of Washington's four scoring plays, driving in two runs and scoring one. Baylee Klingler hit her seventh home run of the season, one of her two hits on the day.

 Klingler, Agan, and Morganne Flores all had multiple hits. Livy Schiele would score two runs for the Huskies, with Agan driving her in both times.

Gabbie Plain was her usual self, spinning her 25th career shutout and striking out 12. Plain retired 12 straight batters  at one point and allowed only four baserunners, with only two hits allowed. Four times Plain retired the side in order, including twice striking out the side. Over her last five starts, Plain has now struck out 60 batters and allowed just 11 hits.

SCORING
  • Third Inning: Back-to-back extra-base hits for the Huskies broke the 0-0 tie. Agan doubled, then Klingler hit her seventh homer of the season for a two-run lead.
  • Fourth Inning: Agan's second hit of the day brought in a run as Schiele waltzed home on the single to make it 3-0.
  • Fifth Inning: A sacrifice fly from SilentRain Espinoza stretched the lead to 4-0.
  • Sixth Inning: Agan slapped a ball at the shortstop, allowing Schiele to beat the throw home for a run.
NOTES
  • Plain (7.0 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 13 K) became the seventh Husky with 600 strikeouts in their career.
  • Plain is the eighth Husky with 25 shutouts in their career.
  • Plain has now struck out ten or more in five consecutive starts.
  • Klingler (2x3, HR, 2 RBI) is now tied for the national lead in home runs with seven.
  • Klingler is hitting .556 with a .636 OBP in the first at-bat of the game.
  • In her last three games, Gibson (0x1, 3 BB) has reached base in eight of nine plate appearances, drawing seven walks.
  • Agan (2x3, R, 2B, 2 RBI) has hit .667 since starting her collegiate career 1-for-5.
  • Lynch (1x3, 3B) now has seven extra-base hits and six singles on the year.

Washington will play a doubleheader against San Diego tomorrow, with game one set for 10:00 am. Both games will be streamed live via Facebook Live.
