SAN DIEGO – The #5 Washington Huskies started their Sunday doubleheader with a shutout, defeating the San Diego Toreros 5-0. Sarah Willis was excellent in the circle, not allowing a hit until the sixth inning. Extra-base hits from Lilly Agan, Sis Bates, and Madison Huskey drove the scoring for Washington.
Making her first collegiate start, Willis was excellent all game long. Willis walked a batter in the first inning, then retired 16 consecutive batters. She would only allow two hits in the game, two singles in the sixth that led to Gabbie Plain taking over and finishing off the win.
Agan had two hits for the Huskies, her second consecutive multi-hit game. The freshman drove in a run with her double early on, then came around to score later. Bates had her fourth multi-RBI game of 2021, her most in a single season since 2018.
