Mar 1, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO – A pair of sophomores for the Utah Women's Basketball program were honored today by the Pac-12 with Brynna Maxwell and Kemery Martín earning All-Pac-12 honorable mention.

The duo has combined to score 473 of Utah's 1,216 points (39%) with Maxwell averaging a team-high 12.7 points and Martín putting up 11.0. Between the two of them, they have reached double-digits in 12 games each, both reaching the 20-point mark at least twice for career-high outings.

Maxwell is earning her second-straight All-Pac-12 honorable mention nod after receiving the recognition as a freshman last season. She ranks in the top-12 in the Pac-12 in scoring (12.7), three-pointers made (41) and three-pointers per game (2.05), also leading the league in free throw percentage (.921).

The Gig Harbor, Wash., native has four 20-point outings this season including her career-high 34 points against Oregon State on Dec. 8, 2020. She earned College Sports Madness National Player of the Week and Pac-12 Player of the Week for her performance against the Beavers, with her 34 points being the most by a Pac-12 player this season and ranking seventh in program history in single-game points.

Martín has started the last 16 games, playing in all 20, reaching double-digits in nine of the last 11 games. After scoring just 134 points in 31 games as a freshman, she has 220 through 20 in 2020-21.

The Sandy, Utah, native scored a career-high 25 points on 10-for-12 shooting against Arizona on Jan. 24, 2021, not missing a shot until the 4:13 mark of the third quarter. She was also a perfect 5-for-5 from the three in the game, which is the most threes made by a Ute this season and is tied for the Pac-12 lead in three-point field goal percentage (minimum of five made).

The Utes will return to action when they take on the Washington State Cougars on Wednesday, March 3 in the 2021 Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament. The game is set to tip off at 6 p.m. MT in Michelob Ultra Arena in the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. and will be aired on Pac-12 Network.
