David Puig Notches Another Top-10 Finish in San Antonio

David Puig birdied four of the final five holes Wednesday at the Cabo Collegiate held at TPC San Antonio to finish tied for tenth in the 88-player field as the Sun Devils finished fifth out of 16 teams.

ASU shot 10-over 874 (301-291-282) as Oklahoma took team honors with a 4-under 860 (287-295-278).

Puig bounced back from a first-day 3-over 75 to shoot even-par 216 (75-73-68). Mason Andersen tied for 17th at 2-over 218 (74-71-73).

{We just weren't good enough this week. For some reason we never got any big momentum. All of the guys finished in the top half of the field but we needed a few great rounds and finishes if we were to win," noted head coach Matt Thurmond. "We just aren't quite playing our best right now and fortunately it's early March. We are solid and working hard and I'm sure we will keep getting better."

ASU played the par-3 holes at 5-over, second-best in the tournament and led the tournament on par-4 holes (-14). Puig tied for tournament honors on the par-5 holes at 6-under.
