SEATTLE - Husky men's tennis returns home for a pair of nonconference duals this weekend against Portland State and Gonzaga. Weather permitting, these will be the first Husky matches outdoors at Bill Quillian Stadium this season and first since spring of 2019. First up will be a match-up with the Vikings on Saturday at 12 noon. The Huskies and Bulldogs will serve it up on Sunday at 4 p.m. following the women's match against UCLA.

A four match homestand starts Saturday for the Dawgs, taking them towards their next Pac-12 match, a home match against Utah on March 19. Washington hung tough but fell last week against 20th-ranked Arizona and 21st-ranked Arizona State and as Head Coach Matt Anger said the Huskies weren't looking for moral victories. They'll aim to get back in the win column this weekend and get on a roll going back into conference play.

Portland State is 4-4 this season. Last weekend PSU had a 5-2 win over Eastern Washington but then was swept by Gonzaga. Matteo Fortini has been playing No. 1 singles the majority of the season for the Vikings. Tommy Edwards has gone 4-3 at No. 2 singles and 1-0 at No. 1. The last time the Huskies and Vikings played was 2018, a 7-0 win for the Dawgs.

Gonzaga men's tennis sophomore Matthew Hollingworth was named this week's Division I UTR ITA Player of the Week for his performances against Boise State and Portland State last week. The Bulldogs are now 6-1, with their only loss a 3-4 decision to Boise State. Sasha Trkulja has gone 6-0 in singles at No. 2 and 3. Washington last faced Gonzaga in 2019, getting a 6-1 win.
