Delgado Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week

Mar 9, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO – Oregon freshman outfielder Hanna Delgado earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors after a strong weekend against Portland State and Boise State, the conference announced Tuesday.

Delgado led the team hitting .500 over the five games – which includes last Monday's game vs. UCLA – while also being tops on the team with eight RBIs last week. She drove in multiple runs in two of the games, highlighted by a career-high five against Portland State on Sunday while recording multiple hits in both games of Sunday's doubleheader.

The Corona, Calif. native delivered a clutch two-out RBI single in the sixth inning of the win over Portland State on Saturday that proved to be the difference in a 4-2 win after the Vikings added a two-run homer in the seventh. In Sunday's doubleheader opener against Boise State, she went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, then drove in five runs while going 2-for-3 vs. Portland State. She hit a three-run shot for her first career homer in the fourth inning of the run-rule win after delivering a two-run double earlier.

Delgado started all four games in left field after getting the start in just three of the first 10 games heading into the weekend. On the season she is now hitting .368 with eight RBIs and is third on the team with 10 runs scored. She is the second Oregon player to win the conference's weekly freshman honor, joining fellow true freshman Alyssa Brito, who won it two weeks ago.
