USBWA All-America Teams

EUGENE, Ore. – For the second time in as many days, Chris Duarte was named an All-American.

Wednesday, the senior from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, received third team honors from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

Last season, Payton Pritchard was a USBWA second team All-American.

One of five finalists for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award, Duarte is one of just two players nationally averaging 16.7 points and 1.9 steals per game, while shooting 50 percent from the field. He is the only major conference player with those averages.

Duarte is second in the Pac-12 in steals, second in three-pointers per game (2.4) and fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.430)

This is Duarte's fourth All-America honor of 2020-21. He was named a third team All-American by the Associated Press on Tuesday. Previously, Duarte was named a third-team All-American by College Hoops Today/Jon Rothstein and Basketball Times.

Duarte will play in the NCAA Tournament for the first time when he leads seventh-seeded Oregon against 10th-seeded VCU Saturday at 6:57 p.m. PT (TNT).
