Beavers Set for Second-Round Matchup vs. South Carolina

THE GAME: The Oregon State women's basketball team will face No. 1-seeded South Carolina Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The game is slated to tip at 4 p.m. PT, and will be played at the AlamoDome in San Antonio, Texas.

WHAT'S UP NEXT: With a win on Tuesday, the Beavers would advance to its fifth-straight Sweet 16 and would face the winner of Tuesday's matchup between Georgia Tech and West Virginia.

THE OPPONENT: Oregon State is 1-1 all-time against South Carolina. The Gamecocks took a 78-69 win in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament in Seattle, Wash. The Beavers earned a 70-68 victory at the Vancouver Showcase in 2018. Taya Corosdale scored 14 points in the contest, going 5-for-10 from the floor. Aleah Goodman is the only other current Beaver to play in that contest.

- Oregon State has scored first in 12 of its 19 games this season.

GREAT SCOTT: Scott Rueck Quick Hitters 
- Was chosen as a semifinalist for Naismith Coach of the Year last season.
- Inked a contract extension last offseason that runs through the 2027-28 season.
- 2017 John R. Wooden Pac-12 Coach of the Year, becoming one of five coaches in conference history to win the honor multiple times.
- Record at Oregon State is 240-113 making him the second-winningest coach in Oregon State history. Aki Hill holds the Oregon State wins record with 274.
- Rueck engineered an accelerated turnaround at Oregon State, bringing the program into national prominence during tenure as head coach.
- Prior to joining Oregon State, Rueck served as head coach at George Fox in Newberg, Ore., where he built the program into a Division III national power, winning an NCAA title in 2009.
- Rueck's teams have consistently been known for outstanding defense. The Beavers have allowed 58.2 points per game over the course of his tenure. George Fox allowed just 48.3 points per contest in 2009-10, Rueck's final year there, and set a school record with 45.4 points allowed under Rueck in 2007-08.

24-SAVANNAH: Savannah Samuel Quick Hitters
- Has scored in double-figures twice in her last 14 games.
- Rueck credited Samuel with playing her best game of the season Sunday vs. Florida State when she went 3-for-4 from the floor and played well defensively.
- Has played in 18 of the Beavers' 19 games this season

THE STAFF: Oregon State Assistant Coaches and Support Staff Quick Hitters
- Associate Head Coach Jonas Chatterton enters his seventh season with the Beavers after spending four seasons at Colorado.
- Associate Head Coach Brian Holsinger served as an assistant coach on the Washington State staff for eight seasons.
