Cal Knocked Off By No. 17/18 Stanford

Marisa Kuberra had Cal's final goal in a 21-4 loss to the Cardinal on Friday.

STANFORD, Calif. – Cal ran up against an undefeated No. 17/18 Stanford squad on Friday and was knocked off by the Cardinal, 21-4. The Cardinal opened the contest by scoring the first 13 goals before Megan Mix scored unassisted with 6:11 to go in the first half. Maya Lawliss, Amanda Morse and Marisa Kuberra added second-half goals for the Bears with 14:42, 8:44 and 1:21 remaining in the contest. Kaia Evans assisted on the Lawliss goal, while Morse and Kuberra both scored unassisted.

"We have learned a lot of good lessons so far this season," head coach Brooke Eubanks said. "With the adjustment to our schedule because of COVID-19 procedures, now it's time to start the second half of our season. We look forward to the opportunity to play everyone again."  

Cal (1-7, 0-5 Pac-12) dropped its fifth straight contest to complete its first half of the Pac-12 schedule. The Bears start a stretch of three straight non-conference games in a row by hosting Fresno State at California Memorial Stadium on Sunday (12 pm PT).
