No. 19 Arizona Topples No. 15 USC at Home

Mar 26, 2021

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Wildcats came home from a rough road trip and toppled No. 15 USC with a score of 4-3.

Arizona had not beaten USC since before 2000, but that did not stop Coach Shields and his team from upsetting the Trojans to remain perfect at home and in Pac-12 play. The day started with a clutch win by Jared Horwood and Jett Middleton on court 3 during doubles, with No. 74 Hassey and Reguant not far behind. Horwood came in on his first Pac-12 match to play a crucial role in the win.

The game tightened during singles with Alejandro Reguant drawing closer to another record with his dominating performance on court 4. He is now two games from tying the overall win record for Arizona. No. 30 Gustaf Strom remained perfect on the season and earned another ranked win over No. 14 Riley Smith to allow Carlos Hassey to finish the match on court 5 in the third set.
