Mar 28, 2021

EUGENE, Ore. – Bella Bergmark recorded seven kills on just 11 swings in a 12-25, 19-25, 19-25 loss to No. 16 Oregon Sunday afternoon at Matthew Knight Arena.

Katarina Pantovic added seven kills and five digs for the Bears (1-19), while Makana Meyer tallied seven kills.

Oregon (13-3) was led by Brooke Nuneviller with 13 kills and 12 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears started strong in the first, taking an 11-9 lead on a Pantovic kill. It was all Ducks from there as they used an 8-0 run to force a Cal timeout and cruised to a 25-12 win from there to take a 1-0 lead.

Cal battled early in the second, tying the score at 7-7 on a Meyer kill. After the teams traded four-point runs, Meyer tied the score once again at 12 apiece with a kill. Oregon scored eight of the next nine to take a seven point advantage and finish the set for a 2-0 lead in the match.

Oregon jumped out to a 13-7 lead in the third, using a run after the score was tied at 6-6. The Bears were able to get within four twice at 16-12 and 20-16, but couldn't get any closer as the Ducks closed out the set and the match.
