Denham's Second Straight Shutout Completes Sweep

Apr 3, 2021

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Alyssa Denham threw her second shutout of the weekend, as ninth-ranked Arizona finished off a four-game sweep of Stanford with a 2-0 win on Saturday in Palo Alto.

Denham followed her game 1 no-hitter with another gem on Saturday, holding Stanford off the scoreboard while allowing four hits -- all singles. The senior struck out three and walked just one in the complete game. Denham improved to 11-4 on the season and has won five straight games over the last two weeks.

Denham's gem capped off a terrific weekend for the UA pitching staff, which allowed just four total runs over the four games and posted a 1.08 ERA on the weekend. Stanford hit just .132 as a team in the series.

The Wildcat offense struggled against Alana Vawter (13-3), but took advantage of three Cardinal errors to plate a pair of unearned runs -- one in the fourth and one in the seventh to defeat Stanford.

Arizona managed four hits in the game, including a Janelle Meoño single to extend her hitting streak to 13 games. Dejah Mulipola recorded an RBI double, extending her reached base streak to 29 games, tied for the longest in school history in the last 17 years.

The Wildcats' four-game sweep marked their second consecutive perfect weekend after going 4-0 vs. Oregon State last weekend.
