USC's Brooke Botkin Receives Pac-12 Volleyball All-Conference Honors

Apr 7, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO – USC senior outside hitter Brooke Botkin (Houston, Texas/Pearland HS) was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Team for the second time in her career on Wednesday, April 7. Sophomore middle blocker Aleksandra Gryka (Warsaw, Poland/Liceum Marii Konopnickiej) received all-conference honorable mention notice.

Botkin--the Trojans' All-American pin-hitter--led USC in kills (3.62 kps) and points (4.10 pps) this season. She was chosen to the Pac-12's Preseason All-Conference Team and earned Pac-12 Player of the Week laurels for the second time in her career on March 23. She appeared in 14 of the Trojans' 15 matches and started every time. Botkin played in 60 sets and produced double-digit kills in all but one contest with a total of 10 double-double outings. On the season, Botkin put up 2.42 digs per set and had 21 blocks and 16 service aces.

Gryka started in 12 of the 14 matches she appeared in and collected 108 kills (1.93 kps) to hit .336 in her first collegiate season. She led the Trojans in blocks with 52 (0.93 bps) and had 11 service aces for a 2.64 points-per-set average. It is Gryka's first Pac-12 award of any kind.

Botkin's selection is the Trojans' 77th all-time Pac-12 all-conference honor shared among 38 different Women of Troy. It is also the 100th all-time all-conference certificate including non-Pac-12 honors. Gryka represents the 41st honorable mention choice by a Trojan.

Under first-year head coach Brad Keller, USC (7-8, 7-8 Pac-12) concluded the season with four straight wins (at UCLA, at Arizona, vs. Colorado twice) and was competitive in each of its five-set losses to the league's top teams. The Trojans had seven matches cancelled for various reasons including COVID-19 protocols, which was second only to Stanford's total of 12 cancelled contests.
