USC Women's Rowing Concludes Racing at Lake Las Vegas Pac-12 Women's Invitational

HENDERSON, Nev.--The USC women's rowing team concluded racing today (Apr. 11) at the Lake Las Vegas Pac-12 Women's Invitational, hosted by the Lake Las Vegas Rowing Club in Henderson, Nev. The Varsity 8+, the Second Varsity 8+ and the Varsity 4+ each placed third in their respective races. 
 
"The second day of racing at the Pac-12 Invitational showed us that we have some work to do over the next few weeks," said head coach Josh Adam. "Our data analytics shows us a lot of places we are losing speed over the 2000 meter course. The good news is, we witnessed a lot of USC 'Fight On!' spirit. One woman who just began rowing again this week did a great job competing and performed her absolute best. We have two more regular season races left; that's two more opportunities for this team to lead, to gain speed and to execute their disciplined focus on the racecourse. We plan to maximize every minute we can to get faster."

Today's conditions were 3-6 mph tailwinds which decreased throughout the morning. There were neutral conditions for the Varsity 8 races. 
 
The Women of Troy entered Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ boats in today's races and competed against No. 8 Alabama and once again, No. 5 California.
 
The morning began with the Varsity 4+ race. The Women of Troy placed third with a time of 7:32.14. 
 
Up next, the Second Varsity 8+ hit the water and clocked in a final time of 6:48.21 for a third place finish. 
 
Finally, the Varsity 8+ finished the morning with a final race time of 6:32.29 placing third. 
 
The Women of Troy now turn their attention to the Dexter Lake Invitational which will take place in Dexter, Ore. on April 24.
