Aari McDonald Picked Third by the Atlanta Dream

TUCSON, Ariz. – Aari McDonald became the highest WNBA draft pick in Arizona history as she was selected third overall by the Atlanta Dream on Thursday. Not only is she the highest draft pick in school history, she is Arizona's first ever first-round selection.
 
McDonald's draft stock skyrocketed during Arizona's run to the National Championship game. In Arizona's six games tournament games, she averaged 24.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists and steals per game while shooting 47% from the field and 48% from three.
 
She had two-straight 30-point games in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight.
 
The NCAA Tournament run capped off a legendary three-year career in Tucson. McDonald finished her Arizona career averaging a school record 21.9 points per game while averaging 5.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.5 steals per game. She is owns the single-season and single-game scoring records as well.
 
The Atlanta Dream begin their season on May 14 at home vs. the Connecticut Sun and Training Camp begins on April 25.
