Future Red Rocks Kara Eaker and Grace McCallum To Headline American Classic This Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS – Future Red Rocks Grace McCallum and Kara Eaker will headline this weekend's American Classic in the duo's first competition on their road to Tokyo. The American Classic will kick off a series of competitions leading up to the Olympic Trials where McCallum and Eaker will contend for an Olympic team berth.

The pair of World Champions will compete at the American Classic this Saturday, Apr. 24 at 12:15 p.m. MT/2:15 p.m. ET. For a look at the entire field, view the USA Gymnastics release here

Eaker, who trains at Great American Gymnastics Express, last competed at the American Classic in 2018 where she was the balance beam champion, silver medalist on floor and the fourth-place finisher in the all-around. Eaker is a three-time U.S. Senior National Team Member (2018-2021) and has contributed to two gold medal Team USA squads at the World Championships. She is the 2019 U.S. Classic balance beam champion, 2017 P&G national champion on beam and the 2018 Senior Pan American Championships beam champion.

McCallum's last appearance at the American Classic was also in 2018 where she was the silver medalist on the uneven bars. The Twin City Twisters product is a four-time U.S. Senior National Team Member. Along with Eaker, she was also a member of the two gold medal Team USA squads at the 2018 and 2019 World Championships. McCallum was the all-around champion at the 2018 Senior Pan American Championships, where she was teammates with Eaker, and was the all-around champion at the 2018 Pacific Rim Championships.

The road to the Tokyo Olympics could include these elite competitions leading up to the Olympic Trials for the pair of Ute signees:

  • American Classic – April 23-24; Indianapolis, Ind.
  • U.S. Classic – May 22; Indianapolis, Ind.
  • U.S. Gymnastics Championships – June 3-6; Fort Worth, Texas
  • U.S. Olympic Team Trials – June 24-27; St. Louis, Mo.
