Apr 24, 2021

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Washington wrapped up the second round of the 2021 Pac-12 Championships on Saturday and sits in eighth place with a 35-over 603 (303-300). The Huskies have two Dawgs in the top 20 in senior Rino Sasaki and freshman Camille Boyd who are both at 7-over 149. The final round of the event tees off at 8:10 a.m. at the par-71, 6,268-yard Stanford Golf Course on Sunday.

"I thought today we slowly started to figure some things out," said head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "We're looking forward to another opportunity to grow and compete tomorrow in the final round."

Sasaki had a rocky start to her day knocking in four bogeys to just one birdie on her front nine. She bounced back quickly though opening her back nine by going 2-under over the first five holes to get back to 1-over on the day. Following a double with three holes to play in the round, Sasaki responded with two pars and closed the round with an eagle on the par-4, 355-yard ninth hole moving her 12 spots up the leaderboard, into a tie for 20th at 7-over 149 (77-72).

Sharing the tie at 20th, is freshman Camille Boyd as she turned in one of UW's cleanest rounds with just three errors. She made a team-high 14 pars on the day and knocked in one birdie while climbing four spots on the leaderboard and making a one-stroke improvement from Friday's opening round. Her 7-over 149 features scorecards of 4-over 75 and 3-over 74.

Sophomore Brittany Kwon was right behind Boyd with her day-two score of 6-over 77 which moved her into a tie for 36th at 12-over 154 (77-77). After starting the day with a double bogey, Kwon added another error the fourth of the day before tapping in a birdie on her sixth. She would make the turn at 3-over before putting a solid string of holes together where she made par on eight-straight. Her final hole proved to be troublesome as she carded a triple to finish with the 6-over.

One stroke behind Kwon is freshman Stefanie Deng who is tied for 38th with a 13-over 155 (74-81) . She registered three birdies on the day but her errors were costly as her final score on the round was 10-over 81. Junior Martha Lewis improved upon her day-one score as she turned in a 6-over 77 to sit in 51st with an 18-over 160 (83-77).

The final round of the 2021 Pac-12 Championships tee off at 8:10 a.m. Sunday morning for the Dawgs from the Stanford golf Course alongside Colorado. The Huskies will start on the 10th hole for their final round.
