Bruins Announce Signing of Katie McCarthy

Head coach Michael Sealy has announced the signing of Katie McCarthy, who will join the UCLA women's volleyball program this fall.

"We are excited to add Katie to our roster for the 2021 season," Sealy said. "She has had a ton of success at the club level and has played on elite teams in every age group. Katie is skilled and passionate and will raise the level of play in our gym immediately. I am excited about her future here and her contribution towards helping us reach new heights."

McCarthy, ranked 80th in the PrepVolleyball 2021 Top 150, preps at Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, where she has been the starting libero, leading the team in aces and digs. She was named PrepVolleyball Gym Dandies Honorable Mention in 2018, 2019 and 2020. McCarthy was an Honorable Mention PrepVolleyball Top Junior in '19, and helped SHS to an Arizona State 5A runner-up finish in 2018.

At the club level, McCarthy has been a captain for the past six years with Arizona Storm Elite Volleyball Club as the team's starting libero. She was a PrepVolleyball All-American in 2018 and 2019, leading the team in aces and digs.
