Chiam Sits in a Tie for 9th after Three Rounds at the Pac-12 Championship

SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Fifth-year senior Nicklaus Chiam sits inside the top ten on the player leaderboard after three rounds of play at the 2021 Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship. The Singapore native sits in a tie for ninth place to lead the way for the Washington State men's golf team through 54 holes of play at the Mayacama Golf Course.

Chiam finished under-par for the third-straight round at the Pac-12 Championship, as he carded a season-best four-under; 68 on Tuesday, April 27. Chiam collected back-to-back birdies on holes 13 and 14, before he eagled the 18th hole to get his day started, then added another birdie on hole one to open his back-nine of play. The fifth-year senior goes into Wednesday's final round at six-under par; 210, which puts him in tie for ninth with Arizona's Trevor Werbylo.

As a team, Washington State carded one-over par; 361 in the third round. The Cougars go into tomorrow's finale in 10th place on the team leaderboard with a score of 1097 (+17), just two strokes shy of Utah for ninth place.

Chiam was one of three Cougars to finish under-par in the third round of the Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship, as graduate senior Eric Hagen and freshman Preston Bebich each shot one-under par; 71. Hagen collected an eagle on the 18th hole, while Bebich matched Chiam and junior Max Sekulic with a team-high three birdies in the third round. Hagen heads into the fourth round of the Pac-12 Championship in a tie for 32nd on the player leaderboard at one-over par; 217.

Arizona sits in first place on the team leaderboard after the three rounds of play at the Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship. The Wildcats hold a four-stroke lead over Arizona State going into Wednesday's final round, as Arizona has carded 29-under par; 1051. Arizona State's Ryggs Johnston and Arizona's Brad Reeves sit in a tie for first going into the fourth round. Each golfer has carded 14-under par; 204 through 54 holes of play.

Washington State will continue play at the Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship on Wednesday, April 28. The Cougars tee-off in the fourth round at 8:36 a.m. PT from the Mayacama Golf Club. Fans can click here to follow live results.
