Kelsey Huff, Madison Waters Headline USC Lacrosse Pac-12 Awards Haul

May 5, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO – USC lacrosse senior Kelsey Huff (Eastport, N.Y.) was named the 2021 Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year and first-year midfielder Madison Waters (Bayport, N.Y.) was chosen as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year as announced by the Conference on Wednesday, May 5.

Huff was also named to the Pac-12 All-Conference first team alongside graduate attacker Maddie McDaniel (Severna Park, Md.). It is Huff's second nod to the All-Pac-12 first team following her selection as a sophomore in 2019. McDaniel receives her first Pac-12 honor to follow her all-league honors in the Colonial Athletic Association with James Madison.

Waters was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference second team and was joined by graduate attacker Izzy McMahon (Bardonia, N.Y.) and sophomore attacker Ella Heaney (Garden City, N.Y.). It is the first All-Pac-12 honor for each of the three Trojans and makes Waters the first USC freshman to be named to a Pac-12 all-conference team in program history. Previously, USC has had two MPSF Rookies of the Year (Amanda Johansen, 2013; Kerrigan Miller, 2017).

The five Women of Troy honored by the conference brings USC's all-time total All-Pac-12 selections to 16 with 10 first-time choices and six second-teamers. Huff's honor as the Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year is the third award garnered by a Trojan. Kerrigan Miller was chosen for the honor twice in 2018 and 2019.

The Trojans (9-6, 6-3 Pac-12) finished the regular season in second place in the Pac-12 standings and received a bye through the quarterfinal of the Pac-12 Tournament hosted by Stanford at Stanford Stadium, May 5-8. Seeded No. 2, USC will face third-seeded Colorado (7-6, 5-3) in the second semifinal game set for a 7:30 p.m. PT start on Thursday (May 6). The championship game is set for Saturday (May 8) at noon PT. All games at the Pac-12 Lacrosse Tournament will be shown live on the Pac-12 Networks.
