May 9, 2021

STANFORD, Calif. – Regular season and Pac-12 Tournament champion Stanford women's lacrosse will face Denver in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 3 p.m. PT in Evanston, Illinois.

The winner of Stanford (11-0) and Denver (15-1) will play No. 2 seed Northwestern (13-0) on Sunday at 10 a.m. PT in Evanston, Illinois.

Earning the Pac-12's automatic berth into the championship, this will be the 10th NCAA appearance for Stanford, and its ninth in 12 seasons. Stanford is 2-9 all-time in NCAA Tournament play and advanced to the second round in 2013 and 2016.

Stanford is 17-12 all-time against Denver. The Pioneers have won four straight against the Cardinal dating back to the 2017 season.

Stanford finished the regular season at 9-0 overall and 7-0 in conference play. Senior Ali Baiocco, the Pac-12 Attacker of the Year, leads the conference and is second nationally with 6.55 points per game. Sixth-year Genesis Lucero, who set the school's single season draw control record on Saturday (109), is third in the nation with 9.91 draw controls per game.

Stanford is one of just three undefeated teams in the nation in 2021 along with No. 1 seed North Carolina (18-0) and No. 2 seed Northwestern (13-0). The Cardinal's 11-0 mark is its best start to a season in program history.
