Arizona Places Eight on NFCA All-Region Teams

TUCSON, Ariz. – Eight Wildcats were named to the NFCA All-West Region team, the association announced on Thursday. Arizona had four first-team selections, three second-team selections, and one third-team selection.
 
The eight Wildcats are now eligible for the 2021 NFCA Division I All-America teams, which will be announced on Wednesday, June 2.

Alyssa Denham is receiving her first all-region nod. Last week, Denham was named second-team all-Pac-12. Denham ranks sixth in the Pac-12 with a 1.93 ERA and leads the team with 18 wins, 99 strikeouts, and 7 shutouts on the season.
 
Dejah Mulipola is named first-team all-region for the third time in her career. Mulipola was named first-team all-Pac-12 and Pac-12 all-defense last week. She is one of 25 finalists for USA Softball Player of the Year. In the Pac-12, she is second with 55 RBI and is tied for second with 17 home runs.
 
Janelle Meoño is receiving her first all-region honor. Last week, Meono was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Pac-12 Batting Champion, and First-Team All-Pac-12. She finished the regular season hitting .442 and is Arizona's first Pac-12 Freshman of the Year since 2014 and second-consecutive Pac-12 Batting Champion.
 
Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza is receiving her fourth first-team all-region selection. Palomino-Cardoza was named second team all-Pac-12 and all-defense last week. She is tied for 17th in the Pac-12 with 32 RBI and tied for eigth with 39 runs scored.
 
Malia Martinez is receiving her second all-region honor. In the Pac-12, Martinez is ranked 14th with 10 home runs and tied for 15th with 34 RBI on the season. Martinez also has five double and drawn 12 walks during the season.
 
Jessie Harper is receiving her fourth first-team all-region recognition. Last week, Harper was named first-team all-Pac-12 and all-defense. Harper is seventh in the Pac-12 with 13 home runs, giving her 89 career-home runs. She is tied for 8th in the conference with 40 RBI is 11th with a slugging percentage of .660.
 
Sharlize Palacios is receiving her first-ever all-region selection. Palacios was named first-team all-Pac-12 and all-freshman last week. She is fifth in the Pac-12 with 15 home runs and sixth in RBI with 44, leading all freshman in the conference.
 
Carlie Scupin is named all-region for the first time in her career. Last week, Scupin was named to the Pac-12 all-freshman team. Scupin is hitting .348, second among conference freshmen, with nine home runs and 34 RBI.
