May 27, 2021

PHOENIX  – No. 19 UCLA jumped on No. 21 Sun Devil Baseball early and often as ASU dropped its series opener to the Bruins on Thursday evening at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

It was a game the Sun Devils will quickly put behind them after UCLA took a 7-0 lead through three innings and never looked back en route to a 21-9 victory.

The ASU offense battled to the final out, recording double digit hits for the 18th time in the last 26 games. Three Sun Devils homered with Nate Baez picking up his sixth in the last nine games, Jack Moss adding his first homer in a home game and Sean McLain recording his seventh homer of the year.

ASU has 42 home runs in the last 27 games (1.6 per game) after having just 16 in the first 23 games of the season.

The Sun Devils will look to even the series tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. AZT on Pac-12 Arizona/Los Angeles and over the airwaves on 1060 AM KDUS.
