Men's Golf NCAA Round Two Recap from Grayhawk: Big Ryggs Rollin'

Ryggs Johnston fired a 7-under 63 on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Championship.

Those are three Sun Devils who have now shot a 63 or better in NCAA Championships, as Johnston fired a 7-under 63 that included nine birdies, including six in an eight-hole stretch to start his round on the back nine to lead the Sun Devils to a 2-under 278 that has it in place for a solid showing after two rounds at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale.

Johnston had just one birdie in the opening round (No. 17), but started his day with three and then after a par and a bogey rattled off three more. He was 5-under on his front nine, then had three more birdies and then finished with four straight pars. He will enter Sunday's third round with birdies in 10 of his past 20 holes.

His round and ASU's play has them in the third spot as ASU will tee with leader Oklahoma State and Oklahoma Sunday starting at 6:10 a.m.
