Volleyball Canada announced that UCLA's Cole Ketrzynski has been named to the Indoor Men's U21 team for 2021. The squad will be comprised of 19 athletes with the potential to represent Canada at the 2028 Olympic Games. The training program will run in Gatineau, Quebec, from July 5 to early October and will represent Canada at the FIVB U21 World Championships scheduled to take place in Italy/Bulgaria from September 23 to October 3.

Ketrzynski was an honorable mention NVA/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America selection this past season with the Bruins. He ranked among the nation's best attackers in kills per set (3.98, 12th in the nation and fourth on the UCLA single-season list in the rally scoring era), points per set (4.78, eighth in the NCAA) and hitting percentage (.345, 21st nationally) this season. The Toronto, Canada native registered double-digit kills in 14 matches in 2021 with three matches of 20 or more kills including a career-best 24 kills in an MPSF Quarterfinal win this season against Concordia. Ketrzynski also rated among the nation's best in service aces per set (0.49). His total of 32 aces led the Bruins and his average of 0.49 per set is sixth-best on the UCLA season list. The sophomore was a first-team All-MPSF selection.

"After a successful virtual training session last year, we are excited and ready to get to work in person in Gatineau," said Ryan Marsden, men's U21 head coach. "We have selected a very good group of athletes that can't wait to represent our country. We appreciate all the support of those who made this program possible in 2021."

"This group of athletes represents the future of the men's program, and I congratulate the hard-working players and coaches who kept the momentum going during the pandemic," said Julien Boucher, Volleyball Canada high performance director for indoor teams. "We're looking forward to seeing them train and compete later this year."
