Three Bears Earn All-American Recognition

Jun 3, 2021

The Cal women's water polo team has three student-athletes represented on the 2021 ACWPC All-America Team.

Rising senior Kitty Lynn Joustra was named to the Second Team, recent graduate Brigit Mulder earned Third Team honors while fellow recent grad Cassidy Ball garnered Honorable Mention.

It marks the third career All-America honor for Joustra, who earned Honorable Mention as a freshman and then was named to the First Team following her sophomore season. Joustra, who missed the first five games of the season with an injury, tied for seventh in the MPSF with 1.9 goals per game while also drawing a team-high 34 exclusions. Joustra also was tied for third on the Bears with eight field blocks.

Joustra also had a torrid end to the season, scoring 24 goals during her final eight games. That included a six-goal performance against Indiana in the MPSF Tournament – the most by any player during the tournament.

Mulder also now has three All-America honors - she earned Honorable Mention as a sophomore and First Team recognition as a junior. Mulder led the Bears with 33 goals and 48 points while also grabbing 15 steals.

Ball secured her second consecutive Honorable Mention recognition after racking up 122 saves with a .477 save percentage.

Cal finished the 2021 season with a record of 12-7 and ranked No. 6 in the nation.
