UCLA-Gonzaga Game Nominated for ESPYS Award

The UCLA men's basketball team's Final Four contest against Gonzaga has been nominated for the 2021 ESPYS presented by Capital One, in the category of "Best Game," as announced by ESPN on Wednesday.
 
This year's ESPY awards will take place in New York City. The program will air on Saturday, July 10, at 8 p.m. (PT) on ABC. Fans can cast their vote for this year's awards (click here).
 
The other three contests that were nominated for this year's "Best Game" ESPYS award include the NCAA women's basketball championship game (Stanford defeated Arizona), an NFL game in Week 14 between Baltimore and Cleveland (Baltimore won, 47-42), and a triple-OT NHL playoff contest between Winnipeg and Edmonton.
 
The Bruins lost to Gonzaga in overtime, 93-90, in a contest that included 19 lead changes and 15 ties. UCLA trailed Gonzaga, 81-79, with under one minute to play in the second half before Jaime Jaquez Jr. sank a pair of free throws at the 43-second mark, tying the contests at 81-81.
 
The game continued into overtime, and Gonzaga claimed a five-point advantage with 1:15 to play. Trailing by a 90-85 margin, UCLA tied the game in the final minute. Jaquez Jr. nailed a 3-pointer with 48 seconds to go and Juzang made a putback layup with under five seconds left. Gonzaga won the game at the buzzer, 93-90, on a near-halfcourt heave by Jalen Suggs.
 
Juzang finished the national semifinal contest having scored a team-high 29 points. Jaquez Jr. totaled 19 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Tyger Campbell scored 17 points and dished seven assists. Cody Riley had a double-double for UCLA, totaling 14 points and 10 rebounds.
