Ducks Add All-Big West Infielder KK Humphreys

Jun 29, 2021

Oregon head coach Melyssa Lombardi added a big-time bat to her lineup Tuesday with the addition of transfer infielder KK Humphreys, who was a first-team All-Big West selection as a freshman in 2021 at Cal State Fullerton.

"We're thrilled to welcome KK into the Oregon Softball family," said Lombardi. "She's a competitor with great energy and has a true passion for the game. KK has proven herself against elite levels of competition in her collegiate career and will be a great fit for our program."

In addition to first-team all-conference honors, Humphreys was named to the Big West all-freshman team after finishing third on the team with a .366 batting average while hitting nine homers and driving in 35 runs. She also finished second on the team with 52 hits while scoring 33 runs and adding 10 doubles and 15 stolen bases.

Humphreys also finished in the top 10 of the Big West in eight different major statistical categories (SBs – 3rd, Hits – 4th, RBIs – 5th, HRs – 6th, Runs – 6th, 2Bs – 6th, SLG – 7th, AVG – 10th). She started 51 games as a true freshman, starting 39 at second base and 12 at shortstop for a Cal State Fullerton team that finished 38-15 and won its first 21 conference games on the way to a second-place finish in the Big West.

The native of Corona, Calif. ended the 2021 season by hitting safely in 10 of her last 11 games while turning in 10 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI performances. She also hit .441 in Big West play while adding six home runs and 25 RBIs to go along with six doubles and 20 runs scored in conference games.

Humphreys went to Cal State Fullerton after lettering four years at Centennial High School where she earned All-Big VII League honors following her freshman through junior seasons. She also earned All-CIF Southern Section Division 2 honors as a junior after hitting .500 with five home runs while scoring 31 runs and stealing 21 bases. Humphreys capped off her high school career by homering in her final at-bat in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
