UCLA redshirt sophomore first baseman JT Schwartz has been named a Third Team All-American by D1Baseball.com.

This marks the first career All-America honor for Schwartz, who earlier this month also picked up 2021 Pac-12 Batting Champion and ABCA All-West Region acclaim.

Schwartz was one of the top hitters in the west after re-joining the UCLA lineup in early March. The Newport Beach, Calif. native posted a .396/.514/.628 slash line for the season, narrowly missing out on becoming the first Bruin to bat .400 for a season since 2001.

He was crowned the Pac-12's 2021 Batting Champion after putting together a .406 average over 40 regular season contests. He was also the team-leader in RBIs (45) despite missing 13 games, and launched eight homers to rank second on the squad.

Schwartz has a .377 career average over two seasons at UCLA, easily clearing the .300 mark in both of his Bruin campaigns (he hit .328 as a redshirt freshman in 2019).
