USC Men’s Swimming Adds European Sprint Free Champion Artem Selin

Jul 13, 2021

USC Men's Swimming will welcome German national age record holder Artem Selin to campus this fall for the upcoming 2021-2022 swim season.

At just 17, Selin raced his way to the men's 50 SCM free meet title in 21.25 while competing at the 2019 Salnikov Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia. His time further established his German Age record for the event.

A few months prior, the teen clocked a 21.37 that gave him a 10th place finish at the 2019 European Short Course Championships in Glasgow.

At the 2019 LEN European Junior Championships, Selin won gold in the 50m free, touching in 21.83 to secure the European Junior record.

Selin will no doubt be a major contributor for the Trojans this upcoming season as he's already proven to be a champion freestyle sprinter internationally.
