Rees Takes Home Silver Medal at FIBA U19 World Cup

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah's women's basketball player, Kelsey Rees, took home a silver medal from the FIBA U19 World Cup. Rees was a member of the Australia U19 team that finished runner-up in the event.
 
Rees appeared in five of seven games for Team Australia in the FIBA U19 World Cup. Against Egypt, Rees was outstanding on the offensive glass, as she grabbed ten offensive rebounds and a total of 13 in the contest. She also added six points.
 
Later in the tournament, she tallied eight rebounds in the Round of 16 against Argentina, helping Team Australia to a 66-35 victory. After beating Team Argentina in the Round of 16, Team Australia defeated Canada, 72-61, in the quarterfinals, and Mali, 62-50, in the semifinals to reach the Finals. Team USA defeated Team Australia in the finals.
 
Rees is no stranger to the international competition as she was a member of Team Australia in the 2019 FIBA U17 Women's Oceania Championship. She led her team to a gold medal and earned a spot on the All-Star Five team. She also played for Team Australia in the 2017 FIBA U16 Women's Asia Championship and helped Australia reach the semifinals.
