USC Eyeing Challenging 2021-22 Schedule

Aug 20, 2021

The 2021-22 Trojans, coming off an NCAA Regional Championships appearance last season now featuring a lineup mixed with returning stalwarts and new talent, will play a challenging 10-event regular season schedule featuring some of the top tournaments, fields and courses in the country.

"I think we are playing one of the best schedules in all of college golf," second-year USC Head Coach J.T. Higgins said. "We are playing courses that have hosted major championships and PGA Tour events as well as some historically great collegiate tournaments.

"On top of that we are playing against the best competition from around the country. We certainly aren't shying away from anyone - let's tee it up and see what we've got! We are looking forward to a great year and watching these young men grow, develop and compete."

USC opens the season at the Marquette Intercollegiate (Sept. 5-7) at Erin Hills C.C. in Erin, Wisc., and follows it a week later with the Maridoe Invitational (Sept. 13-15) at the Maridoe C.C. in Carrolton, Texas, the first of three tournaments to be televised by Golf Channel.

The Trojans play two October events, returning to Texas for the Colonial Invitational (Oct. 4-5) at the Colonial C.C. in Fort Worth and then hit the Golf Club of Georgia Intercollegiate (Oct. 24-26) at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga.

USC opens the spring semester back in Southern California, Jan. 24-26 at the Southwestern Invitational (an event the Trojans formerly hosted and also won most recently in 2019) at North Ranch C.C. in Westlake Village (another event airing on Golf Channel) and fly to Hawaii a month later for the John A. Burns Invitational (Feb. 17-19) at Wailua G.C. in Lihue, Hawaii.

The meat of the schedule continues at the Southern Highlands Collegiate (Feb. 27-March 1) at the Southern Highlands C.C. in Las Vegas — where the Trojans won in 2020 to close the season as well as in 2017 — followed by the NIT (March 18-19) at the Tucson (Ariz.) National G.C.

The Trojans finish the regular season with the Valspar Collegiate (March 28-29) at the Floridian G.C. in Palm City, Fla., followed by the venerable Western Intercollegiate (April 11-13) at the Pasatiempo G.C. in Santa Cruz, also televised on Golf Channel. USC claimed the trophy there in 2017.

The postseason starts with the Pac-12 Championships (April 25-27), hosted by Washington at Seattle's Aldara G.C.

The NCAA Regional Championships are set for May 16-18 with the NCAA Championships May 27-June 1.
