Beavers Conquer SIUE Cougars

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Oregon State volleyball swept Southern Illinois Edwardsville, 3-0, on Saturday morning in Moby Arena. The Beavers improve to 2-6 on the season after defeating the Cougars 25-21, 25-17 and 25-17, as SIUE drops to 2-7 on the year.
 
Senior Grace Massey finished the match tying her career-high with 33 digs. Kateryna Tkachenko led the Beavers with 16 kills off 38 total attacks with one ace and one block. Lindsey Schell finished with 12 kills and one block assist, while Mychael Vernon finished with nine kills and three blocks. Freshman Ashlyn Beaver finished with 32 assists and three digs. DiLara Unal and Emily Bourne tied for a team-high four blocks. As a team, OSU held SIUE to hit only .055.
 
SIUE was led by Sydney Hummert, who finished with seven kills and nine digs. As a team, the Cougars had four aces.
 
Match Notes:

  • OSU held SIUE to hit only .055 marking the first time the Beavers have held an opponent to less than .100 since Aug. 30, 2019 against Boston College.
  • Massey's 33 digs matched a career-high she set against Arizona on Nov. 17, 2019. On her career, Massey now has 1,924 career digs.
  • Four Beavers recorded an ace during the match: Massey, Tkachenko, Unal and Emma Villaluz.
  • Beaver led OSU with 32 assists, as Izzi Szulczewski added seven.
