Women's Golf Concludes Day Two at ANNIKA Intercollegiate

LAKE ELMO, Minn. – Junior Emma Spitz shot a 1-over 73 to lead the Bruins on the second day of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate at The Royal Club in Minnesota.
 
UCLA moved into a tie for eighth place with Ole Miss in the three-day season-opening competition. The Bruins (+9, 585) will head into the final day of competition just three strokes behind fifth-place Texas (+6, 582). South Carolina (-10, 566) leads the 12-team field with a six-stroke lead against second-place Wake Forest (-4, 572).
 
Spitz posted the Bruins' best score on Tuesday, making three birdies and recording four bogeys. She scored a birdie on the par-4 third hole, par-4 13th hole and par-5 18th hole. Spitz moves into the third day of competition tied for 20th, along with teammates Ty Akabane and Caroline Canales.
 
Akabane, a sophomore from Danville, Calif., shot a 2-over 74 on Tuesday. She made two birdies and finished with four bogeys. Akabane scored a birdie on the par-4 11th hole and par-5 18th hole.
 
Canales, who registered a team-leading 3-under 69 on Monday, finished Tuesday's round at 5-over 77. She made one birdie, four bogeys and one double. Canales, a freshman from Calabasas, Calif., scored a birdie on the par-4 sixth hole.
 
Freshman Zoe Antoinette Campos shot a 3-over 75, while senior Simar Singh finished Tuesday's round at 4-over 76. Campos, currently tied for 35th, made a birdie, two bogey and one double in the second round. She scored a birdie on the 3-par 12th hole. Singh registered three birdies and seven bogeys.
 
Ranked No. 9 in the Golfweek preseason top-30 poll, the Bruins will begin round three on Wednesday morning at The Royal Club in Lake Elmo, Minn. UCLA will begin from the 10th hole at 8:55 a.m. (CT) along with USC and Ole Miss. Live scoring will be available by clicking here.
