Buffs Capture Doubles Win In San Francisco

Sep 18, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO – Colorado women's tennis picked up a doubles win in the third day of action here at the Battle In The Bay Classic.

Maria Campos teamed up with Mya Bui of San Francisco in the backdraw of the doubles tournament, picking up a win against Klara Kosan and Miaangelina Ruja of Pacific in the first round 8-6. The two played in the backdraw semifinals against Jordyn Mcbride and Abigail Desiatnikov of San Diego, falling in the match 8-2.

Megan Forster and Caroline Pozo also played in the backdraw of the doubles, losing their match against Jiangxue Han and Isabelle Lee of USC 8-3.

Forster fell in the first round of the backdraw singles yesterday in a three-set match against Nina Sorkin of VCU. Sorkin took the first set 6-2 before Forster made a comeback in the second 6-3. The pair went into a third-set tiebreaker where Sorkin won 10-5.

All three women were scheduled to pick up extra matches at the tournament but rain delayed that to tomorrow. Pozo was scheduled to take on Danielle Zamora of Pacific, while Campos was to play against her doubles partner Bui. Forster was set to play Wisconsin's Mia Larrain, but those opponents may change tomorrow based on who is available and ready to play.
