USC’s Lodewijk Weststrate Finishes As Singles Finalist At Milwaukee Tennis Classic
MILWAUKEE, WISC. — Two USC men's tennis players represented the Trojans well in their first fall action, with freshman Peter Makk making his USC debut and sophomore Lodewijk Weststrate scoring a strong run at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
In his first competition as a Trojan, true freshman Peter Makk silenced his opponent in the first set before going on to claim a 6-0, 6-4 win in the opening round of singles action at the event. Meanwhile, sophomore Lodewijk Weststrate pinned up four consecutive wins in Milwaukee, including a fiery comeback in the quarterfinals in which he posted a 0-6, 7-6 (7), 6-2 decision to punch his ticket to the semifinals. There, the #119 Weststrate upended #117 Daniel De Jonge of Pepperdine to take a place in the title match. In today's final, it was Harvard's #106 Henry von der Schulenburg who was able to trip up Weststrate's hot start with a 6-3, 6-2 score.

Next up for the Trojans is a trip to Athens, Ga., for more individual competition at the Southern Intercollegiate Championship from Sept. 24-26.
