Sep 21, 2021

SAN DIEGO – The Aztec men's soccer team (5-0-2, 2-0-0) moved up to No. 14 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, the program's highest ranking since being No. 13 on October 4, 2016.

Last week, San Diego State kicked off Pac-12 play with shutouts over Cal (2-0) and No. 23 Stanford (1-0, 2 OT) and are ranked No. 2 in the Far West Region.

The Aztecs have shut out their opponents in six of their seven matches and lead the nation in team goals against average (0.132), shutout percentage (0.857) and save percentage (0.963). Goalkeeper Jason Castro, the current Pac-12 Player of the Week, also leads the nation in those stats.

SDSU has yet to trail in a game and are one of just 14 undefeated teams remaining in the country.

The Aztecs host Gonzaga (5-3-0) this Friday on the SDSU Sports Deck. Admission is free.
