Women’s Tennis Set to Begin Fall Season

Sep 22, 2021

TEMPE -- For the first time in two years, the Sun Devils Women's Tennis team is gearing up for a busy fall season, which is set to begin this weekend with eight players competing in two different tournaments in California and Texas.

Sedona Gallagher, Marianna Argyrokastriti, Domenika Turkovic, Cali Jankowski, Amber Lee and Natasha Hill will play in the Cal Invitational, hosted by the Golden Bears in Berkeley, California from September 24-26.

Patricija Spaka and Giulia Morlet will head to Lubbock, Texas, to appear in the Lubbock ITF 15K from September 27 to October 3. The Women's World Tennis Tour event will feature some of the top talent in college tennis.

Since COVID-19 nixed last season's fall slate, the opening weekend of the fall season will serve as an invaluable opportunity for head coach Sheila McInerney's young squad. Of the nine on the roster, five are underclassmen who have yet to participate in a fall season.

The freshmen Spaka and Lee will don a Sun Devil uniform for the first time, with Lee playing roughly nine miles from her hometown of Orinda, California. Spaka will begin her collegiate career listed as the No. 8 player in her home country of Latvia.
