Boyd Flirts With UW History At Mason Rudolph Championship, Finishes Second

Sep 26, 2021

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore Camille Boyd wrapped up an outstanding weekend of golf at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday by shooting a 3-under 69 in the final round to finish a career-best second among individuals. Her efforts helped the Huskies finish tied for ninth as a team at Vanderbilt Legends Club.

Boyd shot the three lowest rounds of her career (66-70-69=205) to finish at -11 overall to end the tournament only trailing Oregon's Hsin-Yu Lu, who finished an impressive 17-under 199. Boyd's three-round total equals the third-lowest in UW history and is the best since Soo Bin Kim shot -11 in 2012 at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.

Boyd entered Sunday's final round two shots behind Lu and recorded back-to-back birdies on No. 6 and No. 7 to get 2-under for the day. She bogeyed No. 11 to move to 1-under, but finished strong with birdies on No. 17 and No. 18 to enter the clubhouse in contention for the individual title with Lu still on the course.

But the Duck was unfazed by the pressure and shot a bogey-free 7-under 65 that included birdies in three of the final four holes to clinch the individual title.

"Camille had a fantastic week individually," Husky coach Mary Lou Mulflur said, "We just have to be a lot better collectively.

"We had a decent round today, unfortunately it was a lot like round one where we had one player play well but couldn't get anyone else going."

The Huskies collective shot 1-under 287 on Sunday and tied Louisville for ninth at +3 overall. Vanderbilt, Georgia and Ohio State finished tied for sixth at +2. Oregon ran away for a 14-shot win, finishing -26 overall, 14 shots ahead of second-place Alabama.

Winnie Ng turned in her best round of the weekend, a 2-under 70, and tied for 48th overall.

Freshman Kennedy Knox was the Huskies' No. 2 finisher, tying for 44th at +4 overall. She was even-par 72 in the final round.

Brittany Kwon was 69th and Jamie Hsieh 70th overall.

The Huskies return to the west coast for the rest of the fall and will next play at the Stanford Intercollegiate, Oct. 15-17.
