Sep 27, 2021

BOSTON - Sun Devil Men's Tennis wrapped up three days of action at Chowderfest in Boston, Mass. Sunday. The Sun Devils upset multiple ranked-Gator opponents on day two in both doubles and singles when facing the defending national champions, Florida. The weekend also featured action against Harvard and Michigan/California.

On day one the Sun Devils competed against the Crimson where they were swept in doubles competition and earned three singles sweeps too. Freshman Murphy Cassone defeated Ronan Jahuck 7-6 and 6-4, while junior George Stoupe and sophomore Moritz Hoffman each won their singles matches by at least four points in each set.

Day two was the most exciting for the Sun Devils as all of their wins in the singles matches were against ranked opponents.  In a three-set match, sophomore Max McKennon upset the No. 4 ranked Duarte Vale (6-4, 1-6, 6-4). Adding on to the upsets in the singles, junior Jonah Wilson defeated Josh Goodger, who is ranked No. 59, in two sets (6-2, 6-4). Senior transfer Fabien Salle entered the weekend ranked No. 52 in the country and took down No. 103 Mattias Siimar of the Gators in two sets as well, winning both 6-3.

Day three went against the Sun Devils. Playing against a mixed bag of Wolverines and Golden Bears, the Maroon and Gold celebrated Cassone picking up a three-set victory over No. 124 Yuta Kikuchi. McKennon and Brachman also beat out their opponents in ASU's lone victories of the third match.
