UCLA Ties for 2nd Place at The Molly Collegiate Invitational

SEASIDE, Calif. – Junior Annabel Wilson shot a 1-under 71 to lead the UCLA women's golf team in the final round of The Molly Collegiate Invitational at The Bayonet on Tuesday.
 
As a team, UCLA (+21, 885) finished tied for second place with San Jose State. Stanford roared into first place to take the team title following an 11-under 282 in the third round. Three Cardinal shot under par while two shot a 67 and 68. Cal finished five strokes behind the Bruins in fourth place.
 
Wilson climbed 24 spots on the leader board after scoring five birdies in the final round. She scored a 3-under 33 in the front nine on the par-5 1st, par-4 5th and par-3 6th.
 
Freshmen Alessia Nobilio and Zoe Antoinette Campos picked up Top 10 finishes placing fifth and seventh place, respectively.
 
Nobilio, who started the day in seventh on the individual leader board, hit a 1-over 73 in each round of her collegiate tournament debut. She birdied three times on the par-3 6th, par-4 13th and par-4 15th in her final round to finish the tournament 3-over 219. Campos birdied once in round three on the par-5 10th and ended the day 6-over 78.
 
Redshirt sophomore Ty Akabane recorded her first Top 20 finish of the season, tying for 14th at 8-over 224. Akabane went even par in the final round with four birdies on the par-5 1st, par-5 8th, par-5 10th and par-4 3rd.
 
Senior Simar Singh rounded out the UCLA starting five tied for 35th at 15-over 231. Junior Emilie Paltrinieri competed individually and also tied for 35th. She recorded six birdies in her three rounds (80-76-75).
 
UCLA will compete next week at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., from Oct. 4-6. The three-day event will take place at the Blessings Golf Club.
