Men's Tennis Hosts Arizona Invite at LaNelle Robson

TUCSON, Ariz. - Men's tennis hosts their first fall tournament since 2019 at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. Four Wildcats will be representing Arizona in their first tournament of the fall season.

Sophomore Gustaf Strom is participating in his first fall tournament as a Wildcat after joining the team last January. After a spectacular freshman season that saw Strom named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, ITA Southwest Rookie of the Year and First-Team All-Pac-12. Strom finished with a team-high 18 singles wins including a 5-3 ranked singles record as he worked his way into the No. 1 spot by the end of the season.

Arizona's Friday, Oct. 1 Morning Match Times

  • 8 a.m. (MST) - Jared Horwood & Hiroki Sakagawa (Doubles) vs. Sillon & Steele (NAU) on Court 1
  • 8 a.m. (MST) - Gustaf Strom & Connor Olsen (Doubles) Donovan & Purne (NAU) on Court 2
  • 9 a.m. (MST) - Gustaf Strom vs. Groves (NAU) on Court 2
  • 10:30 a.m. (MST) - Hiroki Sakagawa vs. Sulen (NAU) on Court 1

Senior Conner Olsen was incredible in his last fall season, starting the fall with eleven straight wins for two singles titles in both the Aggie and Wildcat Invitational. Last spring, Olsen went undefeated with a 3-0 singles record.

Junior Hiroki Sakagawa also finished last spring with a 3-0 record, adding to his perfect spring singles record of 6-0. Senior Jared Horwood won big matches last spring and was impressive in doubles. He finished with a 6-1 doubles record, including a pivotal win over USC.
